About this deal

So I've got myself a one of those bluetooth selfie buttons, but before you start slating me for being one of those plonkers - I am using it for other remote control purposes... How does it connect according to hcitool con yet not be registered as an input device (and register any inputs)?

AB Bluetooth Remote Shutter For Android and iOS Review

I 100% agree with you, and a great safety warning. Glad that situation did not end as badly as it could have. The Pi, Arduino and relay are in a sensible electronics enclosure, with good cabling, glands and cable strain relief, for the control wire, 5VDC in and wired ethernet. There is no onboard wifi, and the mains power point is some distance from the Pi. From the box and manual here are the supported devices tested and proven to actually worked. According to the manual, the remote shutter should work or compatible with Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system or higher and with iOS 6.0 or higher version. Here’s a list of Andriod and iOS devices that are compatible with ASHUTB Bluetooth remote shutter: It turns out that the iOS buttons sends Volume Up (key 123) whereas the Android button sends Enter (key 36). It works! Sorta...So, I wonder if the device is actually sending all those keys or whether something in the rpi is running a "macro" on receipt of certain keyboard input. I was thinking that all I need is to figure out the button press from Bluetooth, but as you say, the bluetooth button goes to sleep mode, and wakes up on first press? Reply I plan 4 vital safety features, even given that I am using a purpose built timer control interface: If your device is compatible, you might want to follow their recommended pairing steps listed on their owner's manual link. Just in case, the steps are here: Easy to set up, Easy to use Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Basically that’s what you will have and don’t expect for any cables. 🙂 Yes folks! There’s no cables included since you will be maximizing the included battery. And like any Bluetooth V3, you can take the shot within 10m radius. I have this on now, but have tested previously replacing it with a standalone Pi, implementing a simple timing schedule. It's pretty easy to set keyboard shortcuts in the GUI- but how do we do it on the command line? Well, you can't. There's no way to tell a shell to run a program when a specific key has been pressed.

Quick Help

I bought a "Bluetooth Remote Shutter". I'm able to connect and trust it from an RPI running Jessie Stretch.
