The speakers are clear but lack any depth to the bass – no problem if you have a decent headset and my Bluetooth ASTRO A38 worked perfectly. Pro on several of these tablets for domain functionality only to find lots of the Linx 8″ Tablet drivers missing when the Windows 8. It’s certainly nowhere near as vibrant as the pixel colour of my iPad Air or even my Google Nexus, but at least the games looked super sharp. While streaming I suffered very little lag – at least nothing that I could notice – and while I won’t be using this setup to play online competitively, it does offer me some single player solace when I can’t get to the TV.

I have been running windows 10 on my Linx 10 for a couple of weeks now and I am quite happy with it. When you think of cheap tablets, the undeniable truth is that you're probably thinking of a plastic Google Android tablet to keep your kids happy. I really like the controller cradle, but as well as it works, you can’t beat the layout of a good old fashioned controller and I’ll certainly be looking into picking up a micro USB adaptor so I can plug my Xbox One controller into the tablet. Fortunately for Microsoft, the age of cheap, capable Windows tablets has well and truly dawned, and Linx's 8-inch offering is perfectly poised to steal a share from underwhelming Android alternatives like the Acer Iconia 7. The system comes complete with a gaming cradle so you needn’t worry about picking up an adaptor for the tablet’s micro USB port so that an Xbox One controller can be used.Pro was using far too much space (I was down to 9gb remaining after doing Windows Updates) despite deleting temp files etc. I did find that every so often the controller inputs suffered some delay, with characters walking further than I had pressed, but it was sporadic so I put this down to my home network limitations rather than that of the tablet. Just finishing up a few install issues and I'll see what can be done regarding the backed up recovery partition. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a (often) unique number that is used to identify mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones and protect them against theft. I’m also used to playing inverted, but this just messed with my head further – it will take a long while for me to fully adapt and take to online gaming without being hampered by the stick positioning.

At 377g it weighs 27g more than the Argos MyTablet, but definitely doesn't feel like a strain to hold, with enough weight to feel suitably solid. Of course, if you're looking for the same kind of connectivity a laptop affords, you'll be sorely disappointed, but on the bright side, Linx has incorporated an easily accessible microSD card slot on one side, whilst a micro-HDMI port, micro-USB port and 3.I spoke to support and they said that i needed the original WIN10 build ISO but they no longer have it. When I try and boot from USB I get a blue screen asking for language selection (US is the only available english language) so I select that, then I get a choice of what I want to boot from so I select UEFI Sandisk (my USB drive) but it just goes in a loop from there on in, it appears to boot from the stick as the blue light flashes rapidly but then takes me back to the same boot menu.

The handlebars feel solid, the grippy material is, well, grippy enough, and it's not an unpleasant thing to hold. There are also frequently asked questions, a product rating and feedback from users to enable you to optimally use your product.A former Project Manager and long-term tech addict, he joined Mobile Nations in 2011 and has been found on Android Central and iMore as well as Windows Central. Whilst the Linx 8 may initially look like yet another non-descript black rectangle, it is actually a surprisingly well-made tablet with an understated, yet reasonably attractive design that – from some angles – could almost be mistaken for an iPad mini, were it not for the capacitive Windows logo that sits beneath the display (which brings up the Start screen). The tablet itself is standard enough fare for a budget Windows 10 slate with an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Above the screen is the only other feature to note up front beyond the screen, and that's the 2MP front-facing camera. While the cradle works well, the button placement just didn’t feel quite right –reaching for the bumper/trigger while using the sticks, or pressing the face buttons – I’ve put this down to muscle memory, the new layout feeling alien to start with, but if your Xbox One’s TV is occupied, or you fancy a cheeky bit of XO while lazing in bed on a Sunday morning, then this is a great solution.
