Why you’d like it: Lots of fast guys, lots of bows, it’s very cinematic, good deployment control, and you get to throw a shield. Saruman lost very little with the rules "dumb down" - he lost Flameburst (which has its uses, but is usually worse to cast than Sorcerous Blast) and he can't Heroic Channel (which is just fine). Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. I choose Gandalf over Boromir every time, but in this one case, I think Boromir be a great addition. point games are perfectly viable in Lord of the Rings and a Mounted Rohan Command and another box of Riders of Rohan gives you the following.

That probably says something about the mark-up of the individual boxes, but hey, I'll take "free models. GW have created boxes with a new, modern plastic character and two boxes worth of infantry or cavalry. In my experience playing MESBG, playing to the last man is actually an UNFUN experience (especially if there's no way your 2 Orcs are going to be able to kill Gandalf and a half dozen Warriors of Minas Tirith). This list really isn't doing anything all that fancy, but it's a fantastic backbone that you can add almost anything to.

Allies add some good variety to Gondor forces, with the Fiefdoms being the obvious choice to add a warband from. Fourth, Gandalf lost Your Staff is Broken and Banishment, which would be useful against Saruman and the Witch-King respectively, but both for Gandalf are quite niche (though I stand by what I said earlier about the Witch-King benefitting from the spell immensely). We’ve gone for the Heroes of Dunland pack here as they give great bang for your buck – three heroes that all bring something different as well as buffing some of your troops.

Given that these make up the backbone of your Dunland troops, this is frankly a terrible value that I would not advise purchasing - it's right up there with Easterling warriors for troop packs that make no sense. Because riders can lose their horses and get replaced by foot models, you will want to keep six of your foot models to use for this. This is a cheap expansion again, as it is the Command blister again and it still leaves you with the Knight of the White Tower and Hornblower, which with the remaining infantry would take you over 700 points.Theoden with heavy armour on armoured horse and shield clocks in at 100 points, and works great with more Riders and some Royal Guard on horse, and Gamling makes a great companion as well. The additional models here are the Fighting Uruk Hai Warrior Command, Uruk Hai Siege Troops and Uruk Hai Berserkers. All told, if you were to trim Gandalf's spells down to 4 from the original 9, I think I'd remove Command from his retinue and give him Fortify Spirit instead.
