About this deal

Oz has promoted certain foods as having “ cancer-starving benefits ,” suggesting that eating them in particular quantities may literally prevent cancer from spreading in your body.

He manages to cover a wide range of popular diets such as keto and intermittent fasting along with lifestyle choices like veganism. I’ve followed Dr Joshua Wolrich on social media for some time – so when I saw he had a book coming out I was keen to read it. I get that it’s meant to be accessible, but it felt like he cherry picked studies and evidence to suit his “ignore the diet industry” narrative, thus cashing in on the current fads. We've all seen where that mentality leads; with religions, with politics, with whatever form of organization. He follows a Health at Every Size® approach and encourages his patients to have a healthy, happy relationship with their bodies and food. There is nothing inherently wrong in teaching yourself moderation if you were never taught that as a child. Seeing food as a medicine can contribute to obsessing about macronutrient intake, to unfairly canonizing or demonizing certain foods, and to turning eating into a joyless and stressful process. Er hat dann schon relativ früh anklingen lassen, dass er ein Buch schreibt, wo er auch auf andere Themen genauer eingeht.

I particularly love how he is 100% clear that a person's size is NOT indicative of their health status, for many reasons. I did Low FODMAP, Carnivore, Paleo, vegan, WFPB, just to fall off the wagons over and over when I still had symptoms and I was maxed out on "willpower". When I came across this book, I was hoping for a quick easy fix to the emotional eating habits I tend to fall back on.Dr Joshua Wolrich breaks down and debunks inaccurate yet well-publicised ideas on nutrition and health; it's an eye-opening insight into an incredibly flawed industry. In a nutshell - Fab, brill, perfect, illuminating, informative, very inclusive, greatly written (and narrated if you’re listening to the audiobook) and everyone and his dog should read it. He addresses nuance and privilege too, the HAES approach and all sorts of things I hadn’t encountered or heard of before even if I thought I had a fair amount of prior knowledge, there’s always more to learn and I learnt so much from this book. Where many things are now deemed unacceptable – making comments about people’s perceived health based on their size is still rampant.
